June 2005 - Computer Room Open
Our Computer Room is once again open for computer courses and FREE drop-in. See our Computer Room pages for information.
Centre Development
We are working hard to improve the Centre and work is currently underway to move the Computer Room to the ground floor to provide accessibility. This will include the installation of a new accessible toilet which will also service the Harambe Hall.
Refurbishment work is due to start in September 05 in the Harambe Hall, Office Complex, Reception and Lobby area in the small building, complimenting recent refurbishment work to the Malcolm X Hall.
Plans are also in progress to develop the Crypt area beneath the Malcolm X Hall as a Youth Space. These plans include a number of funding bids to create a vibrant and educational 'Cavern' for young people to learn new skills and develop existing skills. (Don't worry - contrary to popular belief the Crypt was never used as such and is quite safe)
Did you know we even have a garden? Subject to funding we hope to develop this and provide a pond area, introduce Rabbits and Caveys and facilitate a quiet sanctuary for members of the community to relax in a small but welcoming green space.
Remember - The Malcolm X Community Centre is your Community Centre. We welcome any ideas and suggestions you may have.
